"Thanks much to you too, Sakuna. I make very good food today in gratitude!"

"A missionary who has come to Yanato to preach the faith of Formos. While she is a holy woman, she is also well versed in medicine and a scholar in her own right. Her bright personality extends beyond her religion, and she is able to warm the hearts of those who have faced much hardship.

Fortunately, this woman from the western land of Ventania is also adept in the culinary arts...or so she claims. Upon entering the house, you'll find Myrthe by the hearth. Speak with her to plan your meal for the evening, process perishable ingredients, and eat dinner." [1][2]

Myrthe is a missionary from Ventania, spreading the word of her Formos-based faith wherever her travels take her. She is pure of heart, and she values harmony just as much as she dislikes conflict. As such, she is a very positive-minded person with an unwavering belief in the good in people's hearts no matter what. Despite all her hardships, she remains a holy woman who wishes to spread the word of her religion far and wide.

She arrived in the Lofty Realm after escaping her prison with Yui and Kinta. They joined with Tauemon and Kaimaru and set out to find a safe place, eventually crossing the bridge of heaven and ending up in Mihashira Capital, where the main events of the game begin. As the game progresses, Myrthe will cook food Sakuna brings back for the family, and will also preserve food.

Over the course of her time on Hinoe, Myrthe finds herself in the role of mother figure to Yui, Kinta and Kaimaru, even giving them daily lessons with Tauemon's help.

Story[]

In Ventania, Myrthe decided on the word of a priest to preach the word of Formos to different lands. Some places welcomed them, showed them their cultures and shared their knowledge, while others pelted them with rotting food and worse, unwelcoming to outsiders. During her travels, her priest died of illness, and so Myrthe continued out on her own.

Eventually her travels brought her to Yanato, where she was captured by Ishimaru to be sold into slavery, along with Kinta and Yui. After an undefined period of time, they fled to the Lofty Realm with Tauemon and Kaimaru in search of safe haven. Their travels bring them to the Bridge of Heaven, where they encounter Ishimaru once more, though he is thrown off the bridge by Sakuna. From there, they follow her to the capital, and Sakuna's attempted punishment leads to a fire in the divine rice garner. As punishment, Lady Kamuhitsuki banishes both Sakuna and the children of men to Hinoe, the Isle of Demons.

Once Sakuna is banished from the capital, Myrthe takes over as cook, mother, teacher and doctor of the group. While her first attempts to cook with Yanato ingredients do not go well due to their difference from Ventanian cuisine, she eventually becomes adept.

At the end of the game, Myrthe left Hinoe Island to continue her missionary journey. With her newfound Godly powers gained in Hinoe, she started a new branch of the Formos faith. It is not stated how this new branch was accepted by other believers of Formos.

Relationships[]

Sakuna: Myrthe and Sakuna have a very interesting relationship. While it is not a mother-daughter nor teacher-student dynamic, it seems Myrthe holds a great respect for Sakuna and her status as a goddess. However, this does not mean that Myrthe will not defend others when she feels that Sakuna is being too harsh. She is more than eager to learn and share about her Yanato beliefs as well. Sakuna in turn respects Myrthe as well (though the language barrier can sometimes be hard for both of them).
