On August 10th, 2021, Shueisha announced via JUMP j Books[1] that an official Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin novel is due for publication on the 4th of October, 2021.

The writer, Keiji Ando, is himself involved in the rice production industry[2][3]. The novel's writing has been overseen by Edelweiss[4].

The novel takes place after the events of the game's main story, and appears to be focused on Kokorowa rather than Sakuna. The synopsis is as follows[5]:

ヒノエ島――神と人が手を携え鬼を払い、稲の実りで満たした地。 サクナヒメは、先の戦いの後も、いまだこの地で米作りに励んでいる。そんな彼女を見つめるひとりの影――車輪と発明を司る神でありサクナの親友、ココロワヒメ。 ココロワはとある事情によって、親友と同じくこの地で不慣れな稲作に取り組むことになったのだが――? 『天穂のサクナヒメ』本編の後日談を公式小説化!!

Which, translated using DeepL online translator and interpreted, roughly translates to:

Hinoe Island - a place where gods and men worked hand in hand to dispel demons and fill the land with plentiful rice harvests. Even after the final battle, Princess Sakuna is still here, working hard to grow rice. A shadow watches over her: Princess Kokorowa, the god of wheels and inventions, and Sakuna's best friend. For some reason, Kokorowa, like her friend, has been forced to tackle the unfamiliar task of growing rice in this land...? This is the official novel version of the story that follows the main story of "Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin"!

The novel will cost 1100 yen including tax[6] and will be sold via JUMP j Books by a variety of online booksellers, including Amazon, Rakuten, Omni7, Yodobashi and Shueisha; the book is B6 size,

Later update (9th September 2021): The book cover has since been released[7]:
